Salaries and Wages
Our salaries and wages are competitive or better in our community. We maintain a wage and salary administration plan to ensure our employees are paid in relation to their responsibility and value which they contribute to the association's success.
Part-time health benefits
We offer medical, dental and life insurance to part time employees who are regularly scheduled and work 20 hours or more a week. Deductions for these benefits may be made pre-tax through our Section 125/Cafeteria Plan.
Full-time health benefits
Our full time employees have the opportunity to enroll in one of the medical/dental plans offered. The YMCA contributes to the employee's premium based on coverage type.
Life Insurance
The YMCA enrolls its full time employees in a group life insurance plan. This benefit pays up to one times the employee's annual salary and is fully paid for by the YMCA.
YMCA Retirement Fund
The YMCA of South Hampton Roads offers a retirement program, fully funded by the YMCA to employees meeting criteria established by the national YMCA Retirement Fund. If eligible, the YMCA of South Hampton Roads pays 12% of an employee's monthly compensation to their retirement fund. The employee is not required to contribute in this fund on their behalf.
This benefit provides retirement, permanent disability, and death benefits for our employees. Eligible participants are those full or part time employees who:
- Have completed 1,000 hours of service during each of any two 12-month period.
- Are 21 years old
Child Care Benefits
The YMCA provides childcare assistance to all eligible employees as a benefit of employment. The various childcare programs offered consist of Before &After School care, Preschool Program, and Summer Camp. Child care benefits may differ based on program and availability. Childcare benefits are considered a taxable fringe benefit. Each branch differs as to what program is offered at their location.
YMCA Membership (Wellness Program)
In keeping with the purpose and philosophy of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, association membership is provided to full time employees and their dependent members of their household. Part time employees receive individual memberships but may upgrade to a family membership by paying the difference in the rate.
Holidays , Vacations and Sick Days
The YMCA observes (11) paid holidays for its full time employees. Also, full time employees receive 1-week vacation after their first 6 months of employment and two weeks after their first year of employment. Employees may receive up to 5 weeks of vacation depending on their years of service with the YMCA. Full time employees are entitled to sick leave. The number of days allowed are based on years of service.
