YMCA of South Hampton Roads Management
Chuck Harris.
Chuck Harris, CEO & President
Chuck grew up on the south side of Chicago and had an early connection with the 111th Street YMCA through aquatic programs and Indian Guides. Chuck attended Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee, and completed his master’s degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. While a graduate student at Vanderbilt, Chuck began his work with the Nashville YMCA as an outreach worker and counselor at a group home sponsored by the YMCA. He later became Director of Urban Services before becoming Branch Executive for the Brentwood YMCA.

After twelve years in Nashville, Chuck became the Associate General Director of the YMCA of Memphis and Shelby County. The next major career move brought Chuck to Richmond, Virginia, as Vice President of Operations for a rapidly expanding Association. In 1989, Chuck became President/CEO of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. In nineteen years the Association has grown from a $2.7 million dollar YMCA serving 18,000 people to a $42 million dollar YMCA serving over 160,000 people.
