Camp
- Summer Day Camp:
Runs in one-week sessions from June –August; ages 5 –12
Our camp components include daily opening and closing assemblies and D.E.A.R.—Drop Everything And Read. Each day, we will celebrate reading by having the entire camp drop everything and read for 20 minutes. Staff and other children will read to the younger children to promote literacy. Campers will log their reading accomplishments in their D.E.A.R. diary to be redeemed at summer's end. Camp sessions include themes, swim time, camp spirit songs, daily time with activity specialists, values time, outside time, family nights at least three times during the summer, field trips, session-end celebrations, camp-wide Olympics and an occasional sleep over.
- Specialty Camps:
As another weekly choice for your child, we have created a variety of Specialty Camps that will allow your child to have a fun filled summer! These week long camps provide a specialized experience for your child for five days.
- Holiday Camps:
The Albemarle Family YMCA offers full-day care on most days when school is closed (i.e. holidays, teacher-work days). Special activities or field trips are planned. Fees may apply.

The Albemarle Family YMCA in partnership with the College of the Albemarle is offering enrichment specialty camps. The YMCA camp staff will walk your child over to the COA campus for an enrichment program of your choice and bring them back to the YMCA when the program is over. Your child will enjoy the recreational activities of the YMCA and the College experience. Please stop by the YMCA or COA for more details on this program.
Class offerings: Theatre production, Drums, Dance, Guitar and many other exciting courses.
