The Albemarle Family YMCA recognizes the importance of creating a positive, safe environment for teens in the community. Each teen program or activity is focused on developing the spirit, mind and body; stimulating creativity; offering challenges; building developmental assets; and of course, fun! Teen opportunities include:

  • TeenQuest: Part of the FitQuest program, TeenQuest is designed specifically with teen fitness needs in mind. Our trained FitQuest Coaches will teach, guide, motivate you and give you the personal attention needed to successfully reach your fitness goals. Sign up for FitQuest at the Member Services desk.
  • Weekly Teen Night
  • Interactive Zone: An investment of $375,000 in new interactive equipment is sure to offer YMCA members an exhilarating, full-body workout while playing video games! More than just a computer that makes you sweat, the equipment offers something for everyone from simulated interaction training for athletes, to keeping youth and teens active and excited about fitness, to mental and physical coordination exercises for older adults and rehabilitation patients.

Hatha Yoga

  Yoga or Hatha Yoga is a wonderful mind/body class that will stretch and relax your entire body and mind. All levels are welcome. Hatha Yoga also incorporates strength moves into the mind/body class in addition to the stretching and relaxation. Starts at 8 years old.

  Step 1 is a beginner step class in which a combination of athletic and dance- based aerobic moves, using an adjustable platform for diverse levels of intensity, are taught including step terminology. Prior step terminology is not required. Starts at 8 years old.

  Step 2 combines athletic and dance-based aerobic moves using an adjustable platform for diverse levels of intensity. Prior step terminology is suggested. Starts at 8 years old.
Teen Night

Time: 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  Open to all teens age 13-18. The evening is free for YMCA members and $3.00 for potential YMCA members (photo ID must be provided by non-members). The event will be held in our Family Activity Center from 7:00-10:00 PM every Wednesday evening.
