Team Building Activities (Includes debriefing)
Building Your Team
The goal is to build the tallest structure possible by incorporating strategic planning within time constraints, executing a group plan and knowing when to abort the plan and try something different as a team. This activity identifies roles of team members to prep for progressive team building activities. It also identifies weaknesses in the decision making process while showing how to strengthen those weaknesses.
Magic Shoes
Identify team members’ strengths and weaknesses and utilize them strategically in a team setting to reach the goal and help to build appreciation of diversity. This activity also doubles as an icebreaker.
Team Survival
The goal is to prioritize the materials enabling the group its best chance of surviving the scenario – This is a leadership characteristic identification tool in which you learn to develop decisions based upon the team and goal at hand, not individual preferences. This also teaches teams how to constructively criticize and move toward a common goal, identify individual strengths and weaknesses and learn how to debate constructively within a team toward a common goal.
Bid Your Bridge
The focus in this activity is the prioritizing of items to execute a strategic plan your group develops in order to reach the common goal of building the longest bridge. With that goal, you must also prioritize how to get those items. Like Team Survival, this is a leadership characteristic identification tool in which you learn to develop decisions based on the team and goal at hand, not individual preferences. It also teaches how to constructively criticize and move toward a common goal, identify individual strengths and weaknesses and learn how to debate constructively within a team toward a common goal.
Team Building Initiatives (Challenge Course)
Rescue Mission
An “Enabling/Disabling” device used to exibit the abilities of people that do not take the role of leader. Team members will naturally take one of 3 roles (leader, follower, or facilitator). As the Challenge Course is navigated, individual strengths will be disabled in order to enable other team members into different roles within the team. This activity helps in identifying strengths and weaknesses while creating an atmosphere in which team members can assist weaknesses and harness strengths. This initiative is also good for 3rd party individual/team analysis.
Traffic Jam
This is a critical thinking exercise that requires team work and decision making. This activity helps teams to work together in making tough decisions. It also allows natural leaders to take a different role as situations and stumbling blocks occur.
Water Drill
The Water Drill is an efficiency activity. It focuses on the importance of planning and time management. This provides a visual perspective of how productivity is lost with lack of communication, planning and execution at different levels of an organization or team.
*Most activities can be customized to group and/or needs.
