Andrew "Andy" Ballard - Senior Program Director, YMCA Camp Silver Beach
Andy Ballard has been at Camp Silver Beach since 2001, but he has always had a passion for serving others.  As a leader in athletics through his earlier years, he started by helping at a handicap baseball league which soon grew to over 25 “Buddies” assisting participants.  With his eyes set on professional sports, an Achilles tendon injury altered his path to college and sent him down another road.

Andy graduated from Liberty University in 2001 with a B.S. in Sports Management with an emphasis on coaching.  From that point on, Andy has been fully engaged in the growth of spirit, mind and body in the people around him.  Even without a full-time position available at Camp Silver Beach, Andy returned every summer after graduating, knowing that Silver Beach was his biggest venue to impact the lives of the children in our community.  In between those summers, he was a Sport/Teen Director in Naples, FL doubling program activity and moving the basketball program into the school system.

Andy’s many credits include: Winning “Teacher of the Year” as a Middle School Math Teacher at Alliance Christian School; High School Baseball and Basketball Coach helping coach the baseball team to the State Championship; and Sport/Teen Director at the Norfolk Family YMCA doubling program activity in only 8 months.

As Senior Program Director of YMCA Camp Silver Beach for two years, Andy has all of his focus on the participants in Silver Beach programs; mentoring, guiding, and leading close to 100 staff, 2,000 campers and 5,000 retreat participants.
