Socrates instructed his students to seek to understand themselves before trying to understand others. Later, Aristotle identified separate personality styles that he believed determine human behavior. All of us are driven by an internal guidance system that affects how we react in social settings, who we prefer as friends, what we do when we’re under stress, and how we approach tasks. Your behavior style determines your preference to: take charge or allow others to have control; dig into details or focus on the big picture; want to be center of attention or let others have the spotlight; love change or hate it … and much more.
The “You’ve Got Style!” module will reveal to each participant his or her behavior style via an individual DISC behavior style assessment. Instruction will provide participants with a basic understanding of behavior styles, including how various styles interact. Effective leaders recognize that relationships are founded on understanding and celebrating the uniqueness of every individual. British author Jane Austin once wrote, “One man’s way may be as good as another’s, but we all like our own best.” That’s true about both what we do and who we are.
