Teens
The YMCA recognizes the importance of creating a positive, safe environment for teens in every community. Each teen program or activity is focused on developing the spirit, mind and body; stimulating creativity; offering challenges; building developmental assets; and of course, fun!
- Interactive Zone: An investment of $375,000 in new interactive equipment is sure to offer YMCA members an exhilarating, full-body workout while playing video games! More than just a computer that makes you sweat, the equipment offers something for everyone from simulated interaction training for athletes, to keeping youth and teens active and excited about fitness, to mental and physical coordination exercises for older adults and rehabilitation patients.
- Teens Living with Christ: This is a new program developed for teens of varying ages. While this program will incorporate fun activities and sports, there will also be time for devotion and focus on the YMCA’s mission and principles.
- Group Exercise: All group exercise classes consist of warm-up, cool-down and flexibility segments. The majority of classes will have a cardiovascular segment after the warm-up except for the Body Design, Yoga and Pilates classes. These classes have a strength segment following the warm-up.
- Golf: At The First Tee on the Eastern Shore (for children 8-12, new to golf, located at Upshur Neck Farms in Quinby)
A great program that uses the game of golf to teach life lessons. All equipment and transportation are provided by the Y. Pick up and drop off at the Y. There is no charge to participants
- Judo: (held in Group Exercise class for 12 years and older)
Tuesdays 7-8pm
Throwing techniques, specialized pins, control holds, arm locks, etc. Emphasis is on safety and full physical contact for top conditioning.
