Older Adults
The YMCA Older Adults programs are designed to enrich the lives of people who are in their middle and older years by helping them develop skills to meet life's challenges. Older adults can stay active and healthy by participating in both physical and social activities. At the YMCA, older adults have a place to go to improve their fitness levels, explore new interests and make new friends!

Ballroom Dance - beginner
Days: Tues
Time: 7:05 pm - 8:00 pm
  Learn partner and individual Latin-American and smooth dance steps such as Foxtrot, Swing, Cha Cha, Waltz, Tango, etc. across the dance floor. A new dance is introduced at the beginning of each month, so plan on attending the first or second Tuesday of the month to familiarize yourself with the steps.

  Alternate muscular strengthening exercises with cardiovascular activities. This class is geared toward the beginner exerciser.
Chair Exercise

Time: 11:15 am - 11:50 am
  Perfect for the active older adult, this class is primarily performed in a chair, although some standing exercises may be incorporated. Tubing and other equipment may be used to improve strength, flexibility and balance.
Community CPR

Time: 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Dates: 11/15/08-11/15/08
  Learn skills that could save a life! This course will certify you in American Heart Association Adult and Pediatric CPR and A.E.Defibrillator. Must be physically able to perform skills. Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

Intro to Yoga

  25-minute class covering the basics of yoga, including instructional movements to improve flexibility, relaxation and breathing techniques. Perfect for anyone who is just starting.
Orientation to Group Exercise

Time: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
  This introductory class will teach you the basics, such as what to wear, what to bring and how to monitor your heart rate. Come dressed to sample a variety of class options. Class offered the 1st Saturday of each month.
Stretch, Move & Bend

  Designed especially for active older adults and others who want to focus on increasing cardiovascular fitness, strength, balance and flexibility. Class includes low-impact movement performed at a lower intensity along with muscle conditioning and exercises for flexibility and balance.

  Strengthen and lengthen core muscles. Breathing control and flexibility exercises are used to improve posture, body alignment and overall strength.
