Sports are at the heart of all YMCAs. Did you know that basketball and volleyball were both invented at the Y, while softball and racquetball got their beginnings there as well? The YMCA encourages family involvement in hope that everyone can enjoy the YMCA experience. Under the leadership of caring and dedicated staff and volunteers, participants learn the true meaning behind sports, including the skills for the specific activity; why teamwork is critical in life; how to be respectful of coaches, officials and teammates; and understanding that having fun and making friends are what sports are all about.
