The renovations at the Blocker Norfolk Family YMCA are a shining example of the revitalization taking place in downtown Norfolk. Currently under construction is an expanded Teen Center on the first floor, along with renovations to the men's locker room which is scheduled to open in February.

Our new Youth and Teen Center will provide the setting for critically important programs for this age group. Plans for the new space include:

• Teen Leaders' Club Conference Room
• Lounge
• Open Mic Stage
• Café Area & Snack Bar
• Video Game Corner
• Theatre for Performing Arts & movies

The 1st floor has a whole new look! g. The new Chickpea Café is now open, offering a full range of healthy snacks, wraps, homemade soups, salads, smoothies, nutrition bars, pastries, beverages and coffee.

The completed Interactive Zone is already in use during After-School programs.

Former USFL player and Blocker Norfolk Family YMCA member, Keith Clark recently used the Interactive Zone to host a presentation to youth about leadership, education and positive role modeling.

In addition to the expanded Lobby and ChildWatch areas - including a new Play Gym - the FitQuest Center has been relocated and upgraded

A local artist is in the process of adding murals to the lobby areas and has unveiled a design for the newest Norfolk Mermaid that will be placed in the front entrance way. Take a moment to look over the artwork concept board as you walk in for more details and designs. The same artist is currently working on highlighting the YMCA's core values and will also be focusing on the YMCA's services as well as our local history.

We reopened these two floors on Monday, November 10th with all new carpet and cardio equipment just for you!

The new Group Cycle Studio is open and ready to energize our members.

The Mind/Body Studio and Y-Change Center are completed, including a new gathering space for members to socialize and relax.
