Teens

The Suffolk Family YMCA recognizes the importance of creating a positive, safe environment for teens in the community. Each teen program or activity is focused on developing the spirit, mind and body; stimulating creativity; offering challenges; building developmental assets; and of course, fun! Teen opportunities include:

  • Interactive Zone: An investment of $375,000 in new interactive equipment is sure to offer YMCA members an exhilarating, full-body workout while playing video games! More than just a computer that makes you sweat, the equipment offers something for everyone from simulated interaction training for athletes, to keeping youth and teens active and excited about fitness, to mental and physical coordination exercises for older adults and rehabilitation patients.
  • Teen Leaders Club: Teens learn leadership skills through team building and community responsibility.

  Cycling is performed on a stationary bicycle, focusing on proper body alignment and cycling techniques. Please bring a towel and water.
Abs and More

Time: 7:30 pm - 8:00 pm
  Abs and More focuses on strengthening the core muscles which include abdominals and lower back. Additional exercises the incorporate the upper and lower back may be included.
Adult/Teen Swim Lessons

  Swim lessons for adults and teens of all abilities from beginner to advanced to reach swimming goals of the individual.

  Instruction in basic adult, child and infant CPR, and use of an AED. Upon completion of the training participants will receive certification by mail.

Requirements: Must be 16 years of age or older and feel comfortable kneeling on the ground for extended periods of time.

The Y is available for the following types of events:
Birthday or Team parties on Saturday or Sunday from 2:30 - 5:30 pm.
$200.00.

Lock-ins from Friday evening at 9:30 pm until 7:00 am Saturday morning.
We can accommodate 25-100 guests.
Cost is determined by the number of guests; please call for prices.

Teen events, Showers, Reunions, etc. on Saturday and Sundays after 6:30 pm.

Hip Hop

  Hip Hop is a high energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music. Hip Hop encompasses movement that has elements of popping, locking and breathing as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own style.
