Older Adults
The YMCA Older Adults programs are designed to enrich the lives of people who are in their middle and older years by helping them develop skills to meet life's challenges. Older adults can stay active and healthy by participating in both physical and social activities. At the YMCA, older adults have a place to go to improve their fitness levels, explore new interests and make new friends!

Adapted Aquatics
Days: Mon, Wed, Fri
Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
  Adapted Aquatics is a 60-minute class appropriate for those who suffer from arthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis or are recovering from a joint injury or surgery. The main goals are to strengthen muscles, improve joint flexibility and range of motion.

Swimming skills are not required. Flotation belts are provided if needed. One-piece swimsuits and aqua shoes are highly recommended.
Aqua Aerobics - AM
Days: Thurs
Time: 9:00 am - 10:00 am
  With minimal impact on the joints, Aqua Aerobics is a 60-minute class designed for all fitness levels. The instructor will incorporate various cardiovascular training techniques and may use a variety of resistive equipment.

Swimming skills are not required. Flotation belts are provided if needed. One-piece swimsuits and aqua shoes are highly recommended.
Aqua Aerobics - PM
Days: Thurs
Time: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  With minimal impact on the joints, Aqua Aerobics is a 60-minute class designed for all fitness levels. The instructor will incorporate various cardiovascular training techniques and may use a variety of resistive equipment.

Aqua Blast
Days: Tues
Time: 9:00 am - 10:00 am
  This 60-minute class incorporates aqua aerobics for those participants who want more intensity! Instructor may work out in deep or shallow water using suspended or power moves. This class is designed for those wanting a challenge but is appropriate for all fitness levels.

Swimming skills are not required. Flotation belts are provided if needed. One-piece swimsuits and aqua shoes are highly recommended.
Aqua Tai Chi
Days: Tues, Thurs
Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
  This 60-minute class incorporates instruction and performance of specific moves and conditioning exercises geared to improve one's ability to breathe, focus the mind, improve strength, flexibility, balance and coordination during movement.

Aqua Tai Chi is a combination of the principles of water fitness and the graceful flowing movements of Tai Chi. Swimming skills are not required. Flotation belts are provided if needed. One-piece swimsuits and aqua shoes are highly recommended. (This is a "community" group class and may be led by an instructor or volunteer.)
Aqua Volleyball
Days: Mon, Wed
Time: 9:00 am - 10:00 am
  An ideal class for those looking for a great workout while having fun! This participant-led class uses a beach ball and net in the shallow end of the pool.

Swimming skills are not required. Flotation belts are provided if needed. One-piece swimsuits and aqua shoes are highly recommended.
Chair Exercise
Days: Wed
Time: 11:45 am - 12:30 pm
  This 45-minute class is perfect for the active older adult and is primarily performed in a chair (although some standing exercises may be incorporated). Tubing and other equipment may be used to improve strength, flexibility and balance. Participants are both seated and standing and work at their own ability.
Chair Yoga
Days: Mon, Fri
Time: 11:45 am - 12:30 pm
  Chair Yoga will help you gain strength, flexibility, relaxation and balance through Yoga movements done utilizing a chair. This class is a great way to introduce yourself to the wonderful world of Yoga.
Gymnasium Family Time
Days: Sat
Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
  Family Time allows parents and their children open play time in the gym. Organized basketball is not permitted during this time.
Open Gym
Days: All
Time: 5:00 am - 9:45 pm
  When other programs are not scheduled, our gymnasium is available for open gym time (please see our Gymnasium schedule for specific times).

This is a great time for practicing basketball shots, fitting in some soccer ball drills, or simply enjoying family time with your children. Remember to work together with your fellow members to share the gymnasium space so everyone can enjoy Open Gym together!
Stretch, Move & Bend
Days: Mon, Wed, Fri
Time: 8:00 am - 9:00 am
  This class is designed especially for active older adults and others who want to focus on increasing cardiovascular fitness, strength, balance and flexibility. Class includes low-impact movement performed at a lower intensity along with muscle conditioning and exercises for flexibility and balance.

Please note: Friday morning class begins at 8:15 am.
Tai Chi
Days: Thurs
Time: 11:40 am - 12:40 pm
  Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese discipline focused on slow, fluid movements for balance, control, precision, strength and flexibility.
Weight Free
Days: Fri
Time: 9:00 am - 10:00 am
  This class is ideal for those desiring no impact or who are rehabilitating an injury, although an excellent cardiovascular workout is guaranteed. Using buoyancy belts, participants execute various movements while suspended to improve cardiovascular fitness as well as muscular strength.

Swimming skills are not required. Flotation belts are provided if needed. One-piece swimsuits and aqua shoes are highly recommended.
Y-Change I
Days:
Time: 12:00 am - 12:00 am
  An experienced, committed and motivated Y-Change Coach will lead you through a 6-week journey toward a healthier lifestyle.

Each week you will meet with your coach in a small group setting for a support and educational session, as well as meet two additional times to workout. You will also keep a journal which includes a food and activity log. The Y-Change program will give you the confidence and knowledge necessary to implement small steps to positively change your lifestyle.

The Y-Change I program is open to members only, 18 years or older (ages 13-17 may attend with a parent). Participants must be able to attend sessions during specific, registered group time.

Y-Change II

  Y-Change II continues the concepts learned in Y-Change I and includes a weekly group seminar. The 6-week program focuses on cardiovascular exercise, stretching, strength training, nutrition and setting an individual plan to continue your Healthy Lifestyle journey.

The Y-Change II program is open to members who have successfully completed the Y-Change I program and are 18 years or older (ages 13-17 may attend with parent). Must be able to attend sessions during specific, registered group time.
