Teens

The Taylor Bend Family YMCA recognizes the importance of creating a positive, safe environment for teens in the community. Each teen program or activity is focused on developing the spirit, mind and body; stimulating creativity; offering challenges; building developmental assets; and of course, fun! Teen opportunities include:

  • Interactive Zone: Youth can play video games with friends while being engaged in physical activity on Expresso bikes. Families can race one another, pedaling side by side, while following a visual of their course. Or, check out Xerdance, which provides the perfect platform for individuals or groups to perform dance steps in unison with the onscreen instruction.
  • Teens Night Out/Teen Lock-Ins: If you're between the ages of 11 and 15, we've got some awesome fun waiting for you each month from September through April! Teens Night Out and Teen Lock-Ins are held on alternating months, so check our flyer for all the details! Swim, dance, hang out in the Interactive Zone, or play basketball or dodgeball with us! Of course, we'll have great food, munchies and more to keep you energized all night long!
  • Super Sitter Classes: Learn what you need to know and what every parent wants in a responsible babysitter. Designed for participants 12-15 years old, our Super Sitter Class will help prepare you for the responsibility and fun of babysitting! We'll cover topics like: The Business of Babysitting, Accident Prevention, Handling Emergencies, Age Appropriate Toys & Activities, Diapering and Feeding Infants, Fire Safety, Basic First Aid Skills, and The ABC's of CPR. (Note: First Aid and CPR are basic introductory courses and are not certification level classes).
The YMCA is committed to providing programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. If you and
your family need financial assistance in paying fees for YMCA programs or membership, just ask! Download
