Lifeguard Training Begins -

In order to receive certification you must attend all classes below:
-Monday March 15 6:00-7:30pm swimming pretest
-Monday March 22 6:00-10:00pm
-Wednesday March 24 6:00-10:00pm
-Thursday March 25 6:00-8:00 at Virginia Wesleyan College Pool
-Saturday March 27 9:00am-6:00pm
-Sunday March 28 9:00am-6:00pm
-Monday March 29 6:00-10:00pm
-Thursday April 1 6:00-8:00 at Virginia Wesleyan College Pool
-Saturday April 3 9:00am-6:00pm
-Sunday April 4 3:00-6:00pm
-Thursday April 8 6:00-9:00pm
To be part of the lifeguard training class you must pass the swimming skills pretest:
Swim 500 meters non-stop of the following:
-100 meters strong front crawl with face in the water, flutter kick and rhythmic breathing
-100 meters breaststroke
-100 meters sidestroke
-100 meters sidestroke 1 arm forward
-100 meters breaststroke kick on your back hands on your stomach
-Tread water for 2 minutes legs only and hands out of the water
If you are unable to complete this swim you will not be able to attend the remainder of the class. All but $25.00 of the registration fee will then be refunded.
Upon completion of the course participants will be certified in the following:
-YMCA Lifeguarding
-Red Cross Lifeguarding
-Red Cross CPR/AED
-Red Cross Oxygen Administration
-Red Cross First Aid
Cost of the Course:
$150.00 for YMCA members / $200.00 for potential members
Age Requirement: 16 years and older
