YMCA of South Hampton Roads Announces New Location Opening in January 2018 at Town Center in Virginia Beach
The YMCA of South Hampton Roads plans to open the YMCA at Town Center location on January 1, 2018.
South Hampton Roads, December 11, 2017– In an effort to increase the community’s access to healthy lifestyle programming at the beach, the Y hopes to leverage the concentrated pocket of businesses and residents that call Town Center home and bring the Y right to their back yard. The YMCA at Town Center will feature something in their programming mix that the Y has never done before— trainer-led high intensity workouts, with heart rate monitoring, real-time calorie tracking and performance screens.
The 5,800 sq. ft. former “Town Center Fitness” will now be home to the YMCA of South Hampton Road’s 20th YMCA location. Located directly above Zushi and Paper Source, the YMCA at Town Center will feature cardio equipment, free weight and resistance training equipment, personal training, group exercise classes inside the Y and around Town Center, and the previously mentioned high intensity training opportunities in a fully equipped and dedicated “elite” training area. The Y hopes to use their positioning within Town Center to reach those that may not view the Y as their first choice for these higher intensity workouts by providing the trainer-led, heart rate monitoring “HIIT” classes to those looking to challenge themselves and get optimal results. In keeping with their focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility for all ages and stages of life, the Y also hopes to use their new location to connect with the whole community by participating in existing events hosted throughout the year in Town Center, as well as a plan to bring their Traveling Y series to the center’s square in 2018.
“Our health and wellness programming is continuously evolving, and as the Y has always done, it is our goal to remain relevant and accessible to those in our community, which is why we are so excited to be a part of the community in Town Center,” says Bill Zazynski, Chief Operating Officer for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. Zazynski says that their new location will operate with a focus on healthy living, but will also give members the opportunity to use all locations of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads in order to continue to give access to all for programs that focus not just on healthy living, but also on youth development and social responsibility.
Membership to the YMCA at Town Center will include all of the same benefits that Y members already enjoy, including access to all YMCA of South Hampton Roads locations, their youth programming and healthy living programming opportunities, as well as Nationwide Membership access. Opening is planned for January 1, 2018, with pre-registration for membership now available. To find out more about the YMCA at Town Center, visit ymcashr.org/town-center.
