Week In Review: September 4

4 September 2015

Fall is almost here. This September we are going to feature a weekly recap of our stories shared on social media in one blog post.

Transformation Tuesday (#transformationtuesday)
Pamela had been a Y member for several years, but it wasn’t until this past January that she finally decided to sign up for Y-Change, a complimentary 6-week coach-led lifestyle change program. Half a year later, Pamela has lost 50 pounds and lots of inches. Pamela gives credit to her coach, Lilyan, who she says has truly shown her the value of exercise and nutrition, and has never stopped supporting her.

Wellness Wednesday
For this week's Wellness Wednesday, we present to you a great Pinterest board full of ideas on how to eat better on the go: Quick & Healthy Meals for Students On The Go

Throwback Thursday (#TBT)
In 1885, the Y started America’s first summer camp when volunteer Sumner Dudley, pictured here with other YMCA camp leaders, took seven boys for a week’s encampment. The Y also helped found the Boy Scouts of America, Camp Fire Girls and American Camping Association.

Feel-Good Friday
Last year, Stephanie decided to volunteer with the Y on Granby’s "Togetherhood" initiative. Togetherhood is the YMCA’s Signature Program for Social Responsibility, where members are invited to lead and participate in volunteer service projects that benefit the community where they live. The experience had such an impact on her that she then decided to join the board of directors. She has since ignited and inspired membership for military spouses and families in Norfolk because of how much she feels like the Y is “her home away from home.”
