Giving Time

6 April 2016

Every day, volunteers make YMCA programs possible throughout our community. Volunteers tutor at-risk children in after-school programs; build new playgrounds; plant community gardens; teach youth life skills and character values through youth sports; and support events like the Y’s Healthy Kids Day on April 30th. Volunteering is one of the essential ways the Y engages people and helps them to be healthy, confident and connected to others. Volunteers strengthen our community to bring about meaningful change. This April, the Y celebrates the more than 2,245 volunteers who give their time each year to encourage youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility for all.

Are you interested in giving your time to the Y movement? You can start by downloading our Volunteer application and returning it to the YMCA family center at which you would like to give of your time.

Contact the executive director at your Y to inquire about Togetherhood—the Y’s signature program committed to social responsibility that invites Y members to lead and participate in volunteer service projects that benefit the communities where they live.

Are you interested in encouraging youth to get involved in the volunteer movement? Global Youth Service Day runs April 15th-17th! Check out GYSD.org for resources to help you organize your own service project and become a leader in cause driven volunteerism!
