The Outer Banks Family YMCA Usage Policies

Welcome to the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. We hope your visit is enjoyable. Please remember that our first priority is to serve our members who have made a commitment to the YMCA by joining. The purpose behind our guest policy is to: enhance member service to current members who are encouraging a friend to join; and make reasonable accommodations for members of other YMCAs traveling in our area, for out-of-town family of current members and for out-of-town visitors. All YMCA of South Hampton Roads centers are part of one association; therefore, a visit to one location counts as a visit to all centers. 

Thank you for taking the time to visit our YMCA. Make the most of your visit and ask Member Services for a tour of the facility. Our staff can also provide you with information about becoming a member and the programs available. We look forward to having you as a member of our family.

Summer Guest Policies (May 1 – September 30)
YMCA members may bring a guest under the following guidelines:

Local Guests

  • 1st visit– Complimentary
  • 2nd visit - $5
  • 3rd visit - $10
  • Must join as a member after 3rd local guest visit in order to continue use of the YMCA 
  • Must live within 100 miles of the Outer Banks Family YMCA

Out-of-Town Guests of Members

  • $5.00 guest fee per person, per visit
  • Maximum of 14 visits with a member
  • Must live 100 miles or more from the Outer Banks Family YMCA

Not the guest of a member?

  • Day pass - $15
  • AWAY member day pass – $10
  • 10-Day pass - $75 for an individual, $95 for a family (defined as mother, father and dependent children under the age of 23)
  • Must live 100 miles or more from the Outer Banks Family YMCA

Save time, pick up a guest registration form in advance of your guest’s visit at the Member Services desk. This will ensure for more efficient guest processing!

Guest Policy* (October 1—April 30)
*outside of Spring/Summer Season: 

In-Town Guests

  • One complimentary visit per year
  • Second visit $5.00 per person
  • Third visit $10.00 per person (no more than 3 visits per year)

Out-of-Town Guests of Members

  • Must be accompanied by a member
  • A member may bring a maximum of 5 guests per visit
  • Guests may visit up to 14 days per season
  • $5.00 guest fee per person, per visit
  • Must live 100 miles outside of our service area and not a current YMCA member (see AWAY Program)

Out-of-Town Guests

  • $15 daily use or
  • 10-day Flex Pass $75 Individual/$95 Family

Centers can restrict guest usage, hours of usage and area of usage with or without notice to ensure the safety and comfort of members.  We highly encourage members to contact the YMCA prior to visiting with a guest to inquire about any guest restrictions due to demands on the facility.

AWAY Program
When you join a YMCA, you become part of a national movement of 18.1 million members in more than 2,400 YMCAs. Because each YMCA is autonomous, not-for-profit, and not a franchise, local YMCA policies vary on the use of equipment, facilities, services and programs by visiting members from out-of-town or from nearby YMCAs. If you plan to visit another YMCA, it is a good idea to call that YMCA about visiting member policies.

Visiting from another association

  • From October 1–April 30, as part of the Membership Reciprocity program, we honor memberships from any Y in accordance with the reciprocity agreement guidelines.
