Dean Mattix Completes Multi-Team/Branch Leader Certification

Dean Mattix, District Vice President of NE North Carolina recently completed his Multi-Team/Branch Leader Certification from the YMCA of the USA. We caught up with him to ask about his time at the Y.

How long have you worked for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads?
I started with the YMCA of SHR in 2004 and the YMCA in 1992. 14 years in SHR and 26 with the YMCA.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Coaching staff and building relationships.

Do you feel the courses you took were applicable to your job?

Yes, they all helped grow my capacity as a leader and meet different people with different ideas.

What did receiving your certification do for you personally?
I was thankful to get it done after putting it off. I then realized I only had two classes to take for my Organizational Leader, so hopefully that will be next!
