The YMCA of South Hampton Roads provides a quality experience for players, coaches and families that promotes the development of each athlete to reach their highest potential through skill refinement, teamwork and sportsmanship. Youth learn new skills, make new friends and set individual and team goals, all the while improving self-confidence, promoting diversity and increasing self-esteem.
Youth Soccer
Our soccer program helps kids become not only better soccer players but better people! Youth soccer is a progressive program, with multiple age-specific levels. Every child gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition and family involvement. Available in spring & fall
Youth Flag Football
Y Flag Football is designed to teach the basic skills of Flag Football to newcomers and refine skills for return players. Focuses include throwing, catching, rules and regulations of the game, team work, sportsmanship and fair play for all. Available in spring and fall
Youth Cheer
Our cheer program helps kids become not only better athletes, but better people as well. Youth cheerleading is a developmental program that aims at introducing participants to the sport, building confidence and fostering a team environment. Every child gets to participate in a safe, exciting and fun atmosphere alongside our flag football program. Available in fall, winter, spring, and summer
Youth Volleyball
Youth volleyball is designed to teach the basic skills of volleyball to newcomers and refine skills for return players. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of volleyball, with a focus placed on ball control, offensive and defensive tactics, rules and regulations of the game, team work, sportsmanship and fair play for all. Available in fall and spring
Golf at First Tee — Hampton Roads
First Tee — Hampton Roads is a program of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads that teaches life skills and character values through the game of golf. We offer First Tee's golf and life skills certification program, school programs, summer camps and family golf time. Golfers learn golf fundamentals, rules and etiquette, as well as First Tee's Nine Core Values, Nine Healthy Habits and more.
Sports of All Sorts
Sports of All Sorts is a fun collection of sports, ideal for little ones ages 2 to 5 who enjoy switching between activities frequently! Our little competitors will learn the basic skills and elements of soccer, basketball, and other fun sports, helping them develop balance, agility, hand-eye coordination, and confidence. Available monthly
Tumbling
Designed for ages 18 months to 5 years old, our program introduces young ones to the joy of movement in a safe environment. From basic rolls and handstands to climbing, jumping, and balancing, each session is designed to foster physical development, coordination, and confidence.
Rec+ Sports
Tailored for advanced players seeking to enhance their athletic abilities, nurture sportsmanship, experience both victory and defeat, and engage in friendly competition with their peers. Available in spring and fall
Youth Basketball
Youth Basketball is designed to teach newcomers the basic skills of basketball and refine skills for returning players. Focus will be on ball control, shooting techniques, offensive and defensive tactics, rules and regulations of the game, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play for all. Available in winter and summer
T-Ball
T-Ball teaches children age 3–7 throwing, catching, hitting, fielding techniques, rules and regulations of the game, teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play for all. YMCA core values will be emphasized throughout the season. Available in summer
Pickleball

Adult Sports
There's no such thing as being too old to get in the game! Cycling, running, racquetball, swimming, basketball and more are available at the Y. Adult sports at the Y offer a fun, competitive atmosphere and a chance for adults to continue living a healthy life. Find a pickup game or register for a team—either way, the Y will get you moving!
