Stretch, Yoga & Pilates

Living healthy is about spirit, mind and body at every age and stage. The YMCA of South Hampton Roads offers a variety of mind/body classes to help you relax, strengthen, stretch and improve flexibility.

Cardiovascular Classes

Get your heart pumping in our cardiovascular classes! Cardio classes work out your whole body, increasing your metabolism and burning calories. With everything from aqua to dance classes, you'll find the cardio class you love.

Zumba & Dance

Find Your Rhythm. Feel the Groove. Get Dancing.
Turn your workout into a celebration! Our Zumba and dance fitness classes combine upbeat music with easy-to-follow moves that make exercise feel like a party. Whether you’re shaking it to Latin beats, mixing cardio with hip-hop, or just dancing for fun, you’ll leave every class smiling and energized.

Core & Abs

Improve your posture and build core muscle groups through a variety of exercises designed to strengthen your abdomen and back muscles. Increase your flexibility to walk taller and feel stronger!

Cycling Classes

Build strength, improve cardiovascular endurance and burn calories like crazy in this athletic workout. Our fitness instructors will challenge you with multi-level and intense intervals on a specialized stationary bike.

High Intensity Interval Training

High Intensity Interval Training alternates short, high intensity intervals of cardio exercise with longer, lower slower intervals (including muscle conditioning moves) to recover.

Kids Fitness

Fitness for everyone! Introduce your kids to fitness through fun, high-energy group classes they’ll love. Parents can attend for a family workout, or can drop kids off for them to learn the importance of staying active while parents go focus on their own health and wellness goals. 

Boxing & Martial Arts

Enhance flexibility, endurance and strength in a fun, motivating atmosphere through boxing and martial arts classes. Martial arts incorporates basic athletic movements adapted from boxing, kickboxing, tae kwon do and kung fu.

Strength Training Classes

Strength-training classes combine the benefits of building strength with the motivation and positive atmosphere of a group exercise class. These classes will increase your muscle endurance, enhance your cardiovascular ability and will develop coordination and balance.

Water Exercise Classes

Water fitness provides all the benefits of a great cardiovascular and strength-conditioning workout while protecting your joints from excess strain. These classes are designed to help you improve joint and muscle flexibility, balance, coordination and strength.
