Join us for blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross and Blood Connections, and give the gift of life.

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, our communities were faced with unimaginable circumstances. The shift in daily life due to the stay-at-home orders left holes throughout the infrastructures that govern so many systems that we depend on, including basic childcare services, transportation, the availability of food, and even basic supplies. One of those holes became the availability of life-saving units of donated blood, a supply chain that has always been largely dependent on the giving hearts of those willing and able to donate.

The YMCA of South Hampton Roads was proud to partner with multiple blood donation organizations throughout 2020, including the American Red Cross. Through these partnerships, Ys across our footprint in Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina hosted 30 blood drives, resulting in over 1,000 units of donated blood used to save over 3,000 potential lives.

So far in 2021, nearly 1,000 potential lives have been saved with the blood donated by generous donors through the dozens of blood drives already hosted at Y’s. Join us for our future blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross and other partners and give the gift of life.
