A new world record

30 October 2017

On Friday, October 21, 16 riders set out to break a world record for longest cycling class, and did!

Thank you so much to our supporters and volunteers, but most importantly our donors and riders, who rode for 25 hours and 15 minutes to set a new world record for longest cycling class, and helped us raise over $20,000 to keep kids safe in the water. Pictures and video highlights are coming soon!

In partnership with MacArthur Center’s Live 360 initiative, the Y's Guinness Book of World Records event started on Friday, October 20th at 6pm inside MacArthur Center and our riders rode through the night and into Saturday, October 21, until beating the record at 7pm and continuing on for an additional 15 minutes in celebration.

This event benefitted the Y’s Annual Giving Campaign, with all proceeds allocated to provide swim lessons to kids throughout South Hampton Roads, Northeastern North Carolina and the Eastern Shore of Virginia who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in programs that teach water safety.
