Shop and make a difference

4 May 2018

Shop with Macy's and help send kids to camp.

From May 1-22, 2018, customers can “Make Good Cents” and round up their in-store purchases to the nearest dollar and donate their change to help send local kids to summer camp at the Y.

For the second year in a row, Macy’s is partnering with the Y to give kids a summer camp experience. From Tuesday, May 1, to Sunday, May 22, Macy’s Greenbrier Mall and Lynnhaven invites shoppers to round-up their in-store purchase to the nearest dollar and donate the difference (up to $.99) to support the Y’s camp scholarship program  that sends kids to summer camp at Greenbrier Family YMCA and Mt. Trashmore Family YMCA.

The Y’s camp scholarship program helps kids, especially underserved youth, attend camp, where they are introduced to new experiences that build confidence and develop skills to help them reach their full potential. In 2017, Macy’s raised more than $975,000 for the Y camps nationwide, sending more than 8,000 kids to camp who would have been unable to attend otherwise.

Summer camp offers kids a fun and unique opportunity to meet new friends, explore the outdoors, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime. The Y is one of the largest providers of programs nationwide, conducting 1,850 day camps and 320 overnight camps across the country for youth and teens.

The partnership with the Y is part of Macy’s The Great Escape summer campaign, which features the latest fashion for the season, new designer collaborations and in-store events.
