Fore the Cause: YMCA’s 32nd Annual Charity Golf Classic Hits a Hole-in-One for Community Impact

Sunshine, strong swings and a whole lot of generosity made the YMCA of South Hampton Roads’ 32nd Annual Charity Golf Classic an unforgettable day at Elizabeth Manor Golf & Country Club on May 16. With 30 teams taking to the fairways, this year’s tournament raised an impressive $94,000 all to ensure that every child, adult and family can access the life-changing programs offered by the Y.
From the first tee to the final putt, the energy was high, the competition was friendly, but beyond the fun, this event made serious impact. Proceeds from the tournament will go directly toward scholarships and financial assistance, helping kids gain confidence in swim lessons, supporting families with safe spaces for after-school care, and connecting seniors with health and wellness programs that keep them thriving.
“This tournament shows what happens when people rally around a cause bigger than themselves,” said RA Parks, vice president of property and assets for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads and chair of the Golf Committee. “Each swing today moves our mission forward and creates new opportunities for our neighbors.”
Set along the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth, the course offered the perfect setting. Elizabeth Manor’s beautifully restored fairways and greens gave players a top-tier golf experience and the camaraderie of the players gives this day the kind of community spirit that makes this tournament a favorite year after year.
Whether you played for the prizes or just came for the laughs, you made an impact. Thank you for standing with us and believing in the power of the Y. Here’s to 32 years of giving back, and many more to come.
