Elizabeth Bose Takes First Place at the 2012 Governor's Cup Junior Golf Tournament

26 June 2012

VIRGINIA BEACH, June 25/26 - After a scorcher (heat index approaching triple digits), Elizabeth Bose took overall medalist honors for The First Tee of Hampton Roads', Governor’s Cup. This is a Junior Golf Tournament played over two days at Virginia Beach National and Heron Ridge Golf Courses.

Bose, a 14-year-old from Norfolk, trailed Tristan Craven, a 17-year-old from Great Bridge by 3 shots. Craven was an overall day one medalist at VB National with round of 77. However, on day-two it would be a different story. The weather was phenomenal, 75 and breezy, almost cool in relation to the day prior. Bose comes out with her sights set on nothing short of taking home 1st place at the beautiful Heron Ridge Golf Club, and that's exactly what she did! With a second day round of even par 72, she not only cruised her way to the lead in her age group, 14 and under, she also took overall Medalist honors with a two day total of 152. Eleven strokes ahead of her nearest competitor in her age group!

"She never misses a shot," said The First Tee's Director of Golf Operations and PGA professional, Jason Bowman. "It's like we were watching a seasoned LPGA veteran as she navigated the course. She never changes her routine…she's all business." Thomas Pittman, of Virginia Beach, topped the 15-18 year-old division and took home First Place with a consistent 80, 78 for a two day total of 158. "He hits the ball a mile high and a mile long...Thomas is a force on the course and we will be hearing his name again", said Bowman.

The First Tee of Hampton Roads would like to thank PGA Head Professional, Russ Dodson of VB National and PGA Director of Golf, Glen Pierce of Heron Ridge Golf Club for hosting this event. The courses were in excellent shape and we look forward to next year at our annual event. The First Tee of Hampton Roads is a location of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads.
