Recovering from a Stroke

Ed was 66 when he suffered a stroke. After 3 months of rehab, he was still in a wheelchair, unable to speak. Thanks to his friend Pat, a longtime Y member, Ed was encouraged to attend the Y for physical activity, goal-setting and socialization.

A year later, Ed still enjoys his visits to the Y. Participating in the Chair Zumba class is one of his favorite activities. Although the youngest in the class, Ed still feels motivated and encouraged by those around him. They helped push him to reach his goals; he no longer uses a wheelchair, is cane-free and his speech is restored!
