Double the Fun, One Membership

This August, the Virginia Zoo is teaming up with the YMCA of South Hampton Roads and the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas to swap benefits for all members. Now in its seventh year, this exciting partnership gives you access to double the experiences at no extra cost.

If You're a YMCA Member

Enjoy free, unlimited admission to the Virginia Zoo all month long. You’ll also receive 10% off purchases at the gift shop and food service locations. (Excludes special events and education programs.)

To Visit the Zoo
Advance reservations are not required. For your privacy, the Virginia Zoo and the YMCA do not share member information. When you arrive, please be ready to provide:

• Valid Photo ID
• Proof of active YMCA Membership:
  • Visit ymcashr.org/verifymember and log into your account, then tap your membership to show all adults on your membership OR
  • Membership verification email sent on July 31, 2026 OR
  • Paper membership verification form available at the Welcome Desk at your local YMCA.
• Note: Guests ages 15 years old and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old when visiting the Zoo. The chaperone must accompany their party at entry, remain inside the park during their visit and be available by phone throughout their stay.

Reminder: The Virginia Zoo is unable to accept YMCA key fobs as proof of membership.

Bonus for August: YMCA members who join the Virginia Zoo in August receive two extra months of Zoo membership for free.

If You're a Virginia Zoo Member

From August 1–31, visit any of the 21 YMCA of South Hampton Roads or 14 YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas locations and enjoy:

• Fitness centers with state-of-the-art equipment
• Indoor and outdoor pools
• Group fitness classes
• Child care while you work out

To visit the Y, bring your Virginia Zoo membership card and a photo ID.

To activate your August YMCA membership, stop by any YMCA location. Reservations are suggested for lap swimming and group fitness classes but are not needed for open swim or general access. Hours vary by location.
