Chesapeake Before & After Care Services
📣 An important update about YMCA Before & After-School Care in Chesapeake Public Schools for the 2025–26 school year.
The YMCA values our longstanding partnership with Chesapeake Public Schools and our shared commitment to supporting families through high-quality before and after school care. As part of this partnership, the YMCA participates in the School District’s formal procurement process to determine the service provider for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year.
While we had hoped the selection process would be finalized by the end of June, we understand the decision may extend into July. In the meantime, we remain actively engaged in the process and optimistic about the opportunity to continue serving your family.
To support your planning and provide peace of mind, the YMCA will proceed with opening registration for our before and after school programs in Chesapeake. This allows families to begin the enrollment process, complete required documentation for State licensing, and secure a spot for their child in the event the YMCA is selected as the provider.
For those who participated in 2024-25 care and filled out the priority registration form to renew care for next year:
- Our team has begun processing registrations. We’ll send an email once your registration is complete.
Online registration will open on July 7 at 9pm.
- Pay just $10 enrollment fee when you register by July 21, 2025.
Please note that while registration will move forward, it doesn’t yet guarantee that YMCA care will be offered at your school. We’ll send an update as soon as we know for sure.
What if the Y is not selected as Chesapeake’s in-school care provider?
- Care will be offered at the Y, and transportation will be provided.
- Registrations that are not moved to care at the Y will be cancelled and refunds processed for any fees paid.
