Black History Month
Dear YMCA Family,
Black History Month invites us to honor the strength, creativity, and leadership that have shaped our nation and our YMCA. From the founding of the first Black YMCA in 1853 to the changemakers who lead with courage and compassion today, their impact continues to move us forward.
Their stories remind us that progress is built through persistence and that acceptance is something we must practice every day. At the Y, we are proud to carry on that legacy by creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.
To our members, team members, and volunteers who honor Black history in their families, work, and communities, thank you. Thank you for the leadership, strength, and inspiration you bring to our Y family. You remind us that the richness of our community is our strength.
With respect,
Anthony Walters
