A Message From Mackenzie, YMCA Camp Silver Beach Director of Operations

Someone could look at this summer and say we hosted 10 weeks of summer camp. But that doesn't tell the story. We hosted 10 weeks of opportunity. Opportunity for kids to be kids. Opportunity to make new friends, try something for the first time, push themselves a little further, or come back to the activity they loved and do it all over again. Opportunity to learn a new skill, earn another level, climb a little higher, paddle a little farther, get back up after falling, and realize they were capable of more than they thought. Opportunity to find where they belonged. 

Our campers became Ospreys, Fireflies, Blue Crabs, and Pines. They found something to cheer for and something to be proud of. They showed up for House Day ready to compete, scream, laugh, and fight for every house point. They took on All Camp Adventures, challenged themselves, demonstrated their skills, and laughed their way through every challenge. They filled themed Socials with dancing, ice cream, and memories. They came together as villages, built experiences, and created connections. Talent Shows were filled with campers brave enough to step on stage and a camp full of people ready to cheer them on.

But the real impact wasn't in the events.

It was in the camper who tried something they were afraid to do. The new friendship that started on the first day. The level finally earned. The confidence that grew.

The kid who came through our gates one way and left just a little different. And that impact reaches far beyond our campers. It lives in the families who trusted us, the team members who gave this summer everything they had, and the community that continues to believe in what CSB can be. We don't say “CSB is the place to be” for no reason. CSB is a place where kids can be exactly who they are, find where they belong, challenge themselves, make memories, and make their experience their own. We didn't just host 10 weeks of camp. We gave our campers 10 weeks to grow, connect, laugh, challenge themselves, and make memories that will last far beyond this summer.
