Nicaragua Service Experience

Be the Difference

Join the YMCA of South Hampton Roads April 4-11 in our second adventure to Nicaragua for our 2020 international service experience. You can help teach locals to swim and help with school construction projects— everybody will have a role to play. Anyone 18+ can join this journey, 18 and younger will need to travel with an adult.

We will land in Managua and shuttle to the Coco Loco Resort where we will be staying for the entirety of our trip. Take a look at the resort, they do a lot of good for their community!

This project is self-funded/self-fundraised. Estimated trip cost is $1,500 per person —$700 dedicated to accommodations, food, and transportation to/from Managua airport to Manzano area of Nicaragua. The remaining cost covers airfare to/from Managua, Nicaragua and supplies needed to restore the schools.

If you're interested in joining the Y on this journey, please fill out the interest form below. We will contact you within one to two business days.

Children from El Viejo who participated in the Y's swim instruction and safety program gather to participate in a graduation and awards ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

Service

Along with students and their parents, Y volunteers visited a local elementary school to restore classrooms, clean school grounds, and paint.
