YMCA Camp Silver Beach has been diligently working with Virginia Department of Health and the Governor’s office to create safe procedures for this coming summer in accordance with guidelines from the state of VA, the CDC, and the American Camp Association. The following are abbreviated protocols. Comprehensive information will be given to registered camp families later this spring.

  • Each cabin group will be considered a family (cohort).
  • Alterations to our daily camp schedule have been made to allow for campers to stay with their cabin group.
  • When campers (or staff) interact with a cabin group outside of their own, social distancing and masking will be required.
  • We're implementing multiple meal times to allow for ample space in the dining hall and distancing between cabin groups (per restaurant guidelines).
  • The dining hall will be cleaned and sanitized between each meal period.
  • Campers will receive frequent encouragement to wash or sanitize hands at activity areas.
  • Prior to arrival at camp, campers will be required to quarantine or have a negative COVID-19 test prior to arrival at camp for both campers and staff (information to follow for camper families). A pre-camp health screening will be required for every camper who does not have a molecular test within seven days of arrival to camp.
  • Every camper and staff member will receive daily health screenings.
  • Frequent cleaning of high touch areas, bathrooms, shared equipment, shared spaces, and cottages.
  • Anyone exhibiting signs of COVID-19 and/or a fever will be isolated and parents will be called for pick-up.
  • Evening programs, rainy day programming, songs/cheers, and camp wide programming will be modified to allow for proper social distancing between cohorts.
  • Check-in/Check-out process will be entirely drive thru to limit traffic in camp buildings/property.
