Social Responsibility | Annual Report 2017

Our neighbors are coming together to lend a hand and make a difference. With a little heart and a lot of dedication to each other, you helped feed families during the holidays, opened your hearts to victims of domestic violence and gathered supplies for our four-legged friends as they awaited their fur-ever home, all through the Y's Togetherhood program. Take a look at how our friends at the Albemarle Family YMCA are working together to help move their community forward.

Social Responsibility Highlights

5,754 children benefited from assistance, providing a safe and enriching environment during time away from school, helping to close the achievement gap.

4,537 children attended a summer camp, where preventing summer learning loss was just one benefit of their time at camp.

9,985 people gained confidence while learning critical water safety and swim skills.

5,014 youth learned teamwork and responsibility through participation in youth sports.

860 volunteers shared 3,625 hours of their time participating in service projects to help build up their neighbors and community.

$237,812 in contributions from United Way donors helped make sure the Y is open and available to everyone in our community.

Ride to 25

The Ride to 25 event not only broke the world record for longest cycling class—it helped raise enough money to subsidize nearly 2,000 swim lessons for kids who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in swim lessons.
